A WIN FOR WORKERS – $1.1M SETTLEMENT APPROVED

Suffolk County Superior Court has granted final approval to a $1.1 million settlement in Campos v. Gardini, LLC — resolving claims and securing back wages for workers.

The original complaint, filed on behalf of a group of workers, alleged widespread labor violations by Gardini, LLC, a law firm well known in the Brazilian community of Massachusetts. This case highlights that even within the legal industry, workers can be exposed to violations of their workers’ rights.

The settlement was approved by a Suffolk County Superior Court judge on June 23, 2026, following strong advocacy led by the Brazilian Worker Center (BWC), in partnership with legal partner Justice at Work and co-counsel Ortiz & Moeslinger, P.C.

“We are incredibly proud of this outcome and grateful for the immense courage of the workers who stepped forward. This settlement sends a clear message that worker exploitation will not be tolerated. Our community stands united, and we will continue to fight alongside our legal partners to ensure that every worker is treated with dignity and respect and receives the full pay they are rightfully owed under the law.” — Lenita Reason, Executive Director of the Brazilian Worker Center

“This is a major milestone for the plaintiffs and a testament to what collective action can achieve. We thank the Brazilian Worker Center for their unwavering partnership, and we are satisfied to see this case come to a successful conclusion.” — Keally Cieslik, Senior Attorney at Justice at Work

The Brazilian Worker Center will continue its ongoing mission of organizing, educating, and defending workers across Massachusetts to prevent future labor law violations.
